             Can 

• Can is a modal. 
•  
• We use can to express ability and something is possible
•   
• It is the same for all subjects.  

            

            Examples:

• I can play the guitar. (I have ability to  play guitar.)
• 
  
• He can swim very well
• 
  
• We can speak Spanish a little.    
•     

          Negative 

     

    For negative form, we add 'not' after can. (cannot)

    We can also use 'can't' for negative.

           Examples

 

• I cannot/ can't play the piano.  
• 
  
• He cannot sing a song.
• 
  
• She can't drive a car.
• 
  

             Questions  

          We change the position of the subject and the auxiliary verb.

  
           Examples

• How can I go the the post office?
• 
  
• Can I go to the cinema, please?      

          Remember that you can use short answers :

          Yes, you can.

           No, we can't.
